Missing Cat

Missing Cat When Allison's friend Domini was sick with cancer she took in a kitten. Of course there was no way Domini could care for this cat and herself our her children. Domini gave the kitten to Allison in December, the cat was four months old. On the way home with the cat a woman in a minivan took a left in front of Allison and hit her. The cat survived the car accident so we named him Caesar, a strong and noble name.

Recently, Caesar took off from our house and did not come back. We are devastated by this. We had all kinds of bad thoughts and worries. Allison's friend Jaena recommended that she call Jenne Mundy, the cat profiler. Jenne does not psychicly find cats, she knows cat psychology and after an interview she can give advice on how to find the cat. We followed her recommendations and waited. We still searched and left out food. Four days later, while

Allison and I were on the back patio discussing the days events when out of the darkness we here a distinctive, baritone, gruff "meow" that is distinctively Caesar. Allison jumped over the fence and tackled the cat, not taking any chances. We are all so happy to have him home. Best, Joe

I've Been on the Road

I think it’s important to give feedback on the cities that I go to when I’m on tour so  that for future events you might like to visit these cities on holiday and enjoy your surroundings in conjunction with my event.

I’ll always tour Phoenix because it’s where I grew up and the people are usually very friendly. The resorts are beautiful and accommodating. The Phoenician is one of my favorites, the Sanctuary is outstanding too, I threw Joe his 40th birthday party there. El Chorro on Lincoln is an old school Arizona restaurant, which I like. Prime Rib, sticky buns, amazing salads and tables under the stars. On the weekends they offer live music and dancing be sure to call ahead for reservations.

Another great dining experience is Zest off Indian School Rd. in Phoenix. They have Short Ribs with a molasses glaze that is incredible. Joe likes the Eggplant Cheesecake for an appetizer and Meatloaf, which looks like a big meatball!

I toured Denver in August and the people were great. My event was at The Brown Palace Hotel, which is exquisite. Nothing like a haunted hotel that is busting at the seams with character, it was a very special event in Denver with touching readings and I will go back in 2009.

I had two memorable events in Buffalo, NY. Yes, I had Buffalo Wings in the place that created them and my husband and kids joined me there. I also took my girls to Lily Dale a town where the residents are ALL Mediums. I know very cool. I gave a Children’s Workshop there and some of the kids were pretty good. I taught them how to automatic write and my girls stepped in to help teach the kids too. Later we took our girls to Niagra Falls and it was breathtaking. I’ll return to that area again in 2009.

My two events in Chicago were sensational. I’m a big fan of Chicago. Our event was at the Rosemont Westin and it was beautiful. My security guard Nino was great such a kind man. After the event we dined at David Burke’s Prime House and had a blast. For dessert they have “lollipop trees” that consist of little balls of cheesecake dipped in various flavor coatings. They have donut holes that you get to fill yourself with fruit and crème fillings. Anyways in my opinion it’s well worth visiting. I usually stay at the Chicago Ritz it has a very soothing vibe to it.

Baltimore, Maryland was a first time experience for me I had never been to Maryland. My manager Mark couldn’t get enough of the crab cakes and I just thought the city was beautiful with its historic buildings and architecture. I wish I’d had more time to explore but we were off to Philadelphia for my event there. I find my events to be interesting for many reasons but one of them is that a theme seems to always form. For instance, Baltimore ended up being a “loss of child” overtone because there were an unusual amount of parents who’d lost their children in tragic ways.

Philly had a specific “loss of son” overtone and I didn’t just read the mothers who’d lost sons I encouraged them to exchange phone numbers to support one another. One mom had lost her son many years ago and another had lost hers only months ago so the mom who was still so raw with the loss could lean on the mother who had spent years trying to understand her loss. Together they will bond and their sons will know each other on the otherside because of it. I had a wonderful security guard named Dwayne who showed us the town including a Philly Cheese Steak at Geno’s and it is as good as people say. I like it with Provolone instead of Cheese Wiz but you be the judge. We went to a comedy club and tried to let go of some of the pain from the event that night. It was a moving night full of ooohhhs and wows!

I love how my audience gets to be a part of my world and I theirs. So, I will let you know where in Ireland, Canada, Australia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. I’ll be touring in 2009. Maybe I’ll see you there.

Misbehave,

Medium - Another Great Season

The finale is hard to comment on because I know that people in other countries have not seen it and I would not want to spoil it. It does have a lot of twists and turns. I very much enjoyed watching the way Glenn tells a story and the actors act it out. Now we have to wait through the whole summer for the next season. Maybe I will go back and watch the first season and write comments on those.

Highlights, yes I did work at a startup company. Yes, I have patents for spacecraft components. Yes, the owners of the company got the lion’s share of the profits, but I got my share to. In TV land this took 3 or 4 episodes. In my life it took about 8 years.

You would have to talk to Allison about the crime story. It was, as usual, a very disturbing concept.

I do love how Glenn Caron lets us fill in details so the horror scenes are much more terrifying. In this episode there is a drowning, from the viewpoint of the person being drown. Despite not showing anything but water splashing on the lens of the camera, it is really powerful without being graphic. I suggest you watch it until the very end because in Glenn’s way he let our imagination fill in the picture for the soundtrack. This time it is not for a horror scene. There is about 10 sec of not so subtle, I can’t believe they did that, soundtrack at the end. I’m not telling if it is a true story or not!

One more thing, I guess someone is reading my little blog. Brian Gallagher over at movieweb.com interviewed Jake Weber (who plays Joe DuBois) and Kelly Preston (Meghan Doyle). It is a thrill to know that Kelly Preston and her husband are fans of the show.

Having met Jake a few times it was fascinating to see his take on how he plays the character. I don’t think about how to be Joe DuBois, but he spends time contemplating what it is to be in my situation. When he discusses it in an interview, I then have to take inventory of my own life from an outsider’s perspective. Specifically how I see Allison’s career as a medium. To me it is very much as Jake said, for Allison it is so much not a job to make money, it is much deeper and multi-dimensional. It effects her spiritually, emotionally, physically and this is all in context of the history of her life. It is all very surreal, but somehow healthy.

Jake was unaware of this blog, but Brian the interviewer was not. I will see Jake at the wrap party and maybe the interview will come up in conversation.

You can read the interview for yourself.
