Some have long forgotten the word. Since Leos hail in August I thought this an appropriate topic. We all come from different types of backgrounds and we've all had a moment that we wished someone was our rock and sword when necessary.
If you're a visual person the movie “A Knight's Tale” will re-school you on the depth of the word. The movie centers around a boy who is a commoner but inside is a “knight” and he tries to change “his stars.”
In my family I came to know that I'm related to Charlemagne, Richard the Lion Heart and Franklin Delano Roosevelt amongst others. When I was small I felt like I had greatness inside of me but was merely a child that to a great extent wasn't seen by most. I think most can relate.
Times are only ever tough to challenge what we're made of and sometimes we're greater than other times. Weakness doesn't define your life; it only provides a moment of learning and reflection. A wise person once said, “Some are born into greatness, some are great and some have greatness thrust upon them.”
Remember that! Because I believe every person has contributed to greatness in one way or another.
Think of the moment in your life that you needed reinforcements and the person with that power looked down at the ground with nothing to offer. Every day you live, whether it's appreciated or not, you're given an opportunity to be that rock for someone who will then pass it on once they figure out how priceless loyalty is. Be the friend or family member that stands up for others and takes it on the chin when necessary.
I remember when my daughter Aurora was in the first grade and a boy tried to hit her friend Corrine. Aurora stepped in front of her friend Corrine and took a fist to the eye to protect her friend. Even the youngest of children are able to show loyalty, not because they're taught it but because it lives within them. I think loyalty is one of the most powerful yet beautiful displays of affection because often it can only be shown by putting yourself in harms way and that's a personal sacrifice.
I always have said I'd rather have one great friend than a room full of people who call themselves my friend but when push comes to shove they don't act like one. Think about what loyalty means to you and live it. To all the Leos out there who are some of the most loyal people alive, Happy Birthday!
